South Locust businessmen aren't the only merchants out of business today. Ask Amy Sherman.

Amy is a Daily Independent carrier who lived at 839 E. Oklahoma. Her home isn't there, and neither are the homes of any of her 87 customers.

Other Daily Independent carriers also found their routes wiped out by the twisters.

Andy Porter, who lives at 414 O'Neil Circle and delivers in the area of Mark's Trailer Court, had two customers left out of 53 Wednesday. Brad Jakubowski, 2028 N. Grand Island Ave., had started his route north of Senior High only last Sunday. Wednesday he had just two customers left of 39.

Andy Farnsworth, 2617 Cottonwood, had only four or five customers still in their homes in the Cochin and Brahma Street area, and Carrie Becker of 825 E. Delaware had eight customers remaining of 51 in the area south of Meves Bowl.

Another carrier, Mike La France, 520 O'Neil Circle, was put out business for a different reason. His family lost its home.

These incidents and lesser versions of the same variety have caused considerable disruption of newspaper deliveries in the affected areas, Independent Circulation Manager John Goossen said.

Goossen said district circulation managers are trying to deliver to those homes still standing in the affected areas. He also announce d that in cooperation with the carriers The Independent would make adjustments for those people who had to leave their homes and who had paid in advance for June.

He asked anyone having problems to call the Independent's circulation office.
